Dear Parents and Teachers:
You have the opportunity to make a huge difference to your
children's lives! By teaching them the importance of being
active, eating healthy food and reducing sedentary behaviour,
you will be able to prevent bad habits before they start.
We truly believe and have seen the positive effects that
these teachings can have on a child's life. Always remember
that you are their model so you must practice what you preach!
Step 1: Read through Canada's
Physical Activity Guides for Children and Youth.
Step 2: Read through our list of Articles
Step 3: Start using active resources like Workout
with Ticker! to get children moving and having fun doing
it!
Step 4: Have your child fill out the My
Healthy Ticker Log on a weekly basis (with your help
and guidance). We suggest using it for more than one week
so that progress can be measured. Aim to increase the time
spent on physical activity and decrease the time spent watching
the television over a period of 4 to 6 weeks. Aim for small
increments of increase (10 minutes) so that it is an attainable
goal for the child.
